046 Gotha Map of the Great Plains 1873

Due to the detail in our Gotha Map collection, we do not print them smaller than 24x24".

These beautiful maps of the United states in 6 parts are from one of the best map publishers of the 1850's. These maps, published in volumes, were printed in the Gotha region of Germany and were known for having more information than an atlas typically has on a page. This map is a beautiful portrayal of Central Montana to Central Wisconsin, featuring the beautiful great plains of North and south Dakota and Iowa, even Minnesota with an uncommon romantic clamor. åÊUpon closer inspection one can see fine lines of wagon routes, Indian Tribes, and only one whisper of a single railroad across the lonely plains. The black hills are prominently labeled and the route of the Missouri, Mississippi, and Platte Rivers are plain to see. This is a beautiful map in gold and ochre, with the touch of blue as Lake Superior peeks into the picture from the far right.åÊ

All sizes are approximate.
